Whatever your fitness level, we have a course perfect to get you out there and trying your best. 15km Race

If you’re serious about running then this is the course for you. With nationally recognised timings this course is aimed at elite athletes. With prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd your hard work and determination will be rewarded. The course takes place across the flat rural roads of Tai Tapu and is a perfect training event for those carrying on to other competitive events like the Christchurch Marathon later in the season. 15km Fun Run

If you’re looking to set a new personal best or enjoy the challenge of a longer run but don’t want a highly competitive race then this is the perfect course for you. Running the same course as the 15km Race it encourages you to push yourself in a fun and friendly environment. Do it solo or get together a group of mates and cheer each other on. Taking part and enjoying your run is the aim of this course. And you can still post your awesome completion time to Instagram. Check out pricing here.

8km Social Run/Walk

Not ready to take on 15km Fun Run or still in recovery mode? Our 8km course is designed to give you a chance to take on a fun challenge with the option to run and/or walk the course. The perfect opportunity to dress up in team costumes. This course is excellent for anyone wanting to have a great day in the beautiful Tai Tapu countryside. And if you’re training for other 10km events, then this is a great chance to build up fitness and improve your confidence. Check out pricing here.


4km Family Walk/jog

Get yourself or the family off the couch and away from screens for this fun and accomplishable course that everyone can take part in. Walk, jog, or run your way to a sense of personal achievement. Set in the beautiful Tai Tapu township, this is a great way to keep your New Year’s resolutions and spend more time together getting healthy. Check out pricing here.

1.6km Kids Dash

Get your kids registered for this fun challenge and instill a lifelong love of health and wellbeing. Open to all kids aged 14 and under. Equivalent to 1 mile or 1.6km, this is a fun and achievable course for all kids. Check out pricing here.

Event Day

Getting Here

The courses all start at the Tai Tapu School at 1 School Rd in Tai Tapu. Parking is not provided but there is ample free parking within the township streets. Make sure you allow plenty of time to get here. Tai Tapu is approx. 25 minutes from Christchurch CBD but can vary with traffic. Bus service doesn’t extend to Tai Tapu, but why not get a group of friends together and carpool?

 
 

 Food & Entertainment

This is a fun and family friendly day out so we will have lots of fun things on hand to see, eat, drink and do. A great selection of local food trucks will be on site to provide a range of food and beverage options. Live music and other acts will keep spectators and participants well entertained all day long. Activities for kids and adults will make this a fun festival day for all.


 Prizes

There will be performance prizes awarded only in the 15km race for elite athletes. However, all other event entrants have the chance to win some great spot prizes both at the finish line and in the official prizegiving ceremony. Make sure you stick around for prizegiving as you do need to be there in person to claim your prize!


Training & Support

We want to see you do your best and as a purpose of the New Brighton Olympic Athletic Club is to help train the next generation of athletes so we will be holding both real life and virtual training sessions to help you reach your goals, whatever form they take.

Important Information

Race Pack Collection

 

The race pack collection (including goodie bag) will take place from the Frontrunner Colombo, at Shop 4a, The Colombo, 363 Colombo St, Sydenham, Christchurch. Race officials will be there if you have any questions about the event.

The Frontrunner Colombo is also a great place to pick up any last minute clothing, footwear, or nutrition items you might need for the event. The friendly and well informed Frontrunner Colombo team will be on hand to help and answer your questions about these things.

Collection days and times at Frontrunner Colombo are Friday 5th & Saturday 6th April 2019 from 12.00pm to 5.30pm. Late entries (after April 2nd) can also be made in person at this time.

If you are unable to collect your race pack on the Friday or Saturday from Frontrunner Colombo, or have not yet registered, you will still be able to do so at the event HQ at Tai Tapu School from 8.30am to 9:30am on event day April 7th. Please note that late registrations will need to be made in cash as no EFTPOS facilities will be available.


Pre-Race Briefing

All participants must be at the pre-race briefing which will start at 9:45am. It is strongly advised that you ensure you are at the Tai Tapu School by 9:30am to avoid missing any of this very important information.

 

 Terms & Conditions of Entry

The following Terms and Conditions shall apply without exception to anyone entering any events at the Tai Tapu Run Festival. Upon signing up for this event you agree to abide by these conditions.

Refunds/Remove Entry

If you wish to withdraw from the event the following policy shall apply.

  • On or before Thursday 7th March 2019 - 50% refund.

  • On or after Friday 8th March 2019 – No refund.

Entry Conditions

When entering the Tai Tapu Run Festival event you agree to abide by all the rules of the event. This includes leaving the course if you are directed by an event official. An event official may remove you from the event due to on course dangers which may arise due to weather conditions, or other unknown events. An official may also remove you due to health or injury concerns.


Cancellation of the event

If the event has to be cancelled due to weather conditions, natural disaster, acts of god, terrorism, war or other reason so deemed by the organisers, the event may or may not be rescheduled and no refunds will be issued. If the event is not rescheduled – no refund will be forthcoming.


Insurance

Tai Tapu Run Festival has public liability insurance. This does not include personal accident insurance. It is recommended you take out your own personal accident and ambulance cover for the event. Your private health insurance policy may include this, but you will need to check with them.


Promotion

We as event organisers reserve the right to use any photograph/video taken by us or our representatives at the event, without the expressed written permission of those included within the photograph/video. We may use the photograph/video in promotions and publications or other media material produced, including but not limited to: brochures, emails, newspapers, magazines, television, websites, social media etc.


Health & Safety

Ensuring all participants have a safe and enjoyable event is our number one priority. With that in mind we advise of the following Health & Safety items. Please read them carefully as they may be applicable to you personally and following them decreases the chance of an unnecessary accident or injury.

  • Be aware that there are NO ROAD CLOSURES on the course.

  • Be considerate of your fellow participants at all times.

  • Listen to and adhere to any instruction given to you by course marshals/race officials and traffic management personnel. They are here to help.

  • The course is narrow in parts where footpaths are used. Please ensure that when on the footpaths you are running or walking no more than two abreast.

  • Have fun, be safe and look out for each other!


Think & Act Safe

To ensure the course is safe and accessible for all participants; we ask that no scooters, skateboards, roller-blades or bikes are taken on course. All participants with strollers, prams or wheelchairs must start from the rear of their event.

No pets can be permitted on course. If you have a service animal please ensure you notify one of the event officials prior to the start of the event so that they can ensure you are looked after.

Please refrain from listening to music whilst out on course. Musical devices can distract you from your surroundings, including potential hazards and other participants. It is a beautiful course so open your eyes and ears, enjoy the scenery and enjoy your run or walk.


Medical Emergencies

Medical personnel will be attendance at the Start/Finish area. Please seek their advice and assistance if you are not feeling well.

As a participant, you are responsible for carrying any personal medication, inhalers or other device required during physical activity.

If you come across another participant who is not well, please do not ignore them. If you think the situation is serious, seek the assistance of course marshals or call 111.

If you see any potential hazards or suspicious objects at the start or out on course, please bring this to the attention of race officials/course marshals immediately.


 

Pricing

 

Pricing below for 2019 entries. Note that for purposes of pricing;

  • Kids are aged 14 or under

  • A family is 2 adults and 2 kids or 1 adult and 3 kids

Also note that for both 15km courses all participants must be aged 18 or over on April 7th 2019.

If you wish to enter the 15km Race and you are registered as a Competitive Member of Athletics New Zealand, please ensure you enter your club and registration info when entering online.
